City of Turku suspends its twin city operations with St. Petersburg for the present. Mayor of Turku Minna Arve informed Governor of St. Petersburg Alexandr Beglov about the matter on Monday 28 February.
Turku suspends all on-going twin city activities as well as planning of upcoming events and functions. In addition, Turku is closing down the Turku Centre which has been operating in the Finland House in St. Petersburg.
The twin city relation between City of Turku and City of St. Petersburg was established in 1953.
