Kansanpuisto park on Ruissalo Island has offered all Turku residents a chance to relax since the 19th century. Nowadays the area is used as a bathing beach and a pleasant day trip destination.

Kansanpuisto park is a unique venue right next to the busy city. On the side of the sea, the park is bounded by the bathing beach and the pleasant tip of the island. The area also has a children’s playground, a volleyball court and a villa with a restaurant.

The venue offers a view of the sea and the opposite Hirvensalo Island. The islands are separated by the narrow Pukinsalmi channel, which ships use to travel to the Port of Turku. Large cruise ships to and from Sweden come surprisingly close to the beach while passing the park.

Kansanpuisto park is known nationwide for the Ruisrock music festival, which has been held in the park since 1972. For large events like Ruisrock, the fields around the area can also be used for the event.
