There are many ice skating locations in Turku:
- The public hours at the Impivaara and Varissuo Ice Halls are open to all and free of charge.
- The Kupittaa Skating Rink and the Park Field are artificial ice skating rinks which are kept frozen during the winter season. The Kupittaa Skating Rink is free of charge. There is a small ice skating fee for the Park Field.
- It is also possible to ice skate on natural ice rinks throughout the city during winter.
When there is enough snow, you can experience the joy of speed at the fun sledding hills of Turku.
All sledding hills are in free use.
The lights at the ice rink will be on when the ice is ready for skating. Lighting is operating:
- Mon–Thu 7.30–21.00
- Fri 7.30-20.00
- Sat–Sun and midweek holidays 10.00-20.00

Some of the sports facilities can be applied for both regular and single time slots. Regular time-slots are applied mainly during the spring. One-time reservations can be applied throughout the year with an application form or via Timmi reservation planner. There are three canoeing docks by the river Aura.
City of Turku maintains three disc golf courses which are in free use and cannot be reserved.
There are eight petanque courts with a stone dust surface in Turku.
In Turku there are 20 basketball courts in total, of which 13 are standard size courts and 7 are street basketball courts (smaller than 15x28 m). Courts have an asphalt surface. All basketball courts are in free use and cannot be reserved.
Multipurpose courts are small courts, usually with an asphalt concrete surface. In addition there are multipurpose lawns in Impivaara and Pansio sports park. Courts are suitable for ball games and other types of sport activities. Multipurpose courts are in free use and cannot be reserved via Timmi reservation planner.
Outdoor gym devices offer a fun way to train muscles outdoor anytime for free while enjoying the fresh air. With outdoor gym devices, such as lat pull down, pull up, leg press and benches, one can exercise the whole body. The combination of devices varies between places.
In addition to the places listed below, the Ruusukortteli wellbeing centre has outdoor gym devices located on its yard.
There are many exercise opportunities for children and teenagers in Turku.
- The Sports Wonderlands for Kids are meant for families with children. Children aged 1–12 can visit the Wonderlands in the company of an adult. The Wonderlands are free of charge.
- The ‘Mihi’ classes offer 13–19-year-olds opportunities for exercising. These classes are also free of charge.
- Sports clubs offer many sports activities for children and teenagers at reasonable prices.
There is no age limit to exercising. Turku provides a range of exercise and sports for seniors both on your own or together, outdoors or indoors provided either by the city, clubs and associations.
- The affordable senior wristband is meant for citizens of Turku over 65 and encourages to move within one's own schedule. It allows you access to the swimming halls, gyms and culture offers. The wristband is valid 6 months at a time.
- Kuntokonkarit for adults over 55.

Sand fields are classified into three classes according to their size: Small sand fields (max. 40x60 m), sand fields for small-sided games (min. 40x60 m) and big sand fields (min. 45x95 m). Most of the fields in free use are small sand fields with the exception of ten sand fields for small-sided games. The fields are covered with either sand or stone dust.

Natural grass fields cannot be used without a reservation. Reservations are regulated to 16 hours per week in order to prevent grass abrasion. Both single and regular reservations for the artificial turf fields can be booked in the reservation planner Timmi. Night time silence at 22-07.

The Sports Wonderland for Kids offers varied opportunities for sporty games and cavorting around for children ages 1-12, free of charge.
The facility features different types of equipment and gizmos for kids to exercise their natural facility for moving around under supervision, but without guidance.
